Just finished watching the american version of the movie Girl with a Dragon Tattoo.

Im no movie crtitc but I liked the screen adaptation. Ive read the book, all three of them and I say that the movie was as good as the first book. I'll be waiting for parts 2 and 3.

I would like to watch the swedish version of the movie just to compare.

From reading wikipedia entries for both movies, it stated that both lead actresses did a pretty good job of being Salander. Id like to judge that for myself.

3.5 out of 4.

P. S. Someone just slept for about 5-10mins during the start of the movie so that meant the movie was interesting enough. :)

Emergency Charger for Galaxy Tab 7

Here is a pic of my emergency charger setup for my galaxy tab 7.

1) usb charger that uses only AA rechargeable batteries.
2) galaxy tab usb adaptor that can charge a tab from any usb socket.
3) usb to galaxy port (came with the galaxy tab 7)
4) not seen, two AA 2500MaH inside number 1)

The setup costs me around 7 USD not including the AA rechargeable batteries. But it can be bought anywhere and are cheap.

Update on my galaxy tab 7

Well, finally I had the courage to try to install a custom firmware on my galaxy tab 7. I just followed the instructions on overcome website and tada, Im rocking a new custom rom on my tab. You see the official gingerbread update is only up to 2.3.3. But thanks to Overcome, my tab is running on 2.3.6 (see pic)

The best part of the custm rom you might ask? Well its the improved battery life. Now I can use my tab for one whole day (18-19 hours with moderate use).

Another strong typhoon another disaster. Ganon nalang ba parati? Ano ba talaga ang problema natin? No doubt, nagimprove naman na ang PAGASA. I give them that. But how about the other agencies and local government units?

Many local government units told the media that they informed their citizenship about the impending rise in flood waters. And they told the media that these people refused evacuation. The question is why? Maybe because they don't believe in PAGASA. I for one don't believe ANY of their predictions because they were extremely unreliable. And some of them answered that they don't want to leave their houses because they are afraid of thievery. Who can blame them? If their untrusted neighbor isn't evacuating why would they?

I think we can enforce some tactics for all these people to evacuate (with force). One, we should evacuate all of them and cordon out the place to minimize thievery. If there's no one left, who would steal right? Also, we should also tell people that IF they don't go to evacuation centers, then they will NOT receive ANY relief goods. I know this sounds like inhumane but if these people know they they won't get goods if they stayed AND won't lose things to thieves I'm sure they will go to centers.

Lastly, I know that these floodings are in part due to climate change but I don't believe that that's the only cause. One. DAM! Don't BS us that it was not to blame for the floodings in Pampanga, Bulacan and Nueva Ecija. Don't tell us that these Dams did not even contribute a single cubic meters of water to the floods! Even our Dam administrators don't believe PAGASA! Two, dredge the rivers already! If our river beds are equal or higher than the towns and rice fields, then where do we expect these water to go?

In short, this tradegy boils down to distrust. We distrust PAGASA. We distrust our local politicians. We distrust our neighbors. Who to blame now? Only ourselves.

It's time to build a new national social awareness.

How to Root your Samsung Galaxy Tab 7inch (gingerbread 2.3.3)

Why root? So you can better control your phone. You can make backups of your ROM and install 3rd party apps such as Titanium backup and Market Enabler.

If your having a hard time rooting your galaxy tab just follow these steps:

Download all necessary files. Its all in there. If you have used kies, dont download samsung usb driver anymore.

How to put your galaxy tab in download mode? Easy turn it off. Turn it on while holding the DOWN VOLUME BUTTON.

Good luck and dont blame me if you get it wrong!

Google Maps offline mode on Anroid!

My galaxy tab 7" just got a tad more useful. Navigation on Google Maps on offline mode (which means that I dont use data hence no charges) is now available!

Here is a brief tutorial on how you can make it work on your phone. My galaxy tab is on gingerbread (2.3.3) but as long as you have google maps version 5.7.0 this will work for you.... again as long as your phone has GPS.

1) turn on Maps on your phone or tablet

2) search for a place you want to go to. say its subic, for a brief r&r. lets search for subic yatch club.

3)click on Subic Yatch Club icon, press menu on your phone and choose Download map area

4) it will save 10miles around subic yatch club.

5) you are done! now you can just turn on GPS and you will see yourself on the map even without a data connection! Cool isnt it?! As you can see from the screen capture, I dont have wifi on yet i have the subic map!

PS. its a good idea to add to favorites spots you always go to so you wont need to search for it again.

Well I just got my galaxy tab av cable from the mail. First impression is that it simply works. You attach it to your tab, attach it to the tv and viola your screen is now projected on to the tv! Quite neat for sharing video files and pictures to friends and family.

I also upgraded to gingerbread or 2.3.3 and I have seen a mark improvement from the tab. For one, it does not hang as often as before. Battery life also improved. And everything is a bit tad faster. One program I saw that significantly improved is the CamScanner. Before picture preview was just a black screen but now you can see the picture before accepting it to be saved.

All in all im reakky enjoying the tab. As a ebook reader, for internet surfing, watching some movies and taking HD videos of my son. So far this is the best gadget I have laid my hands on and I swear I dont ever out it down!

So if you want a tablet, I say get this one.

Update on 2010 Lim Family Fantasy Basketball

What can I say Im out of the finals. Miss it by just a hair. I finished the regular season ranked #1 but got kicked in the ass by Ahiya Itchie on our final four matchup. But looking at the draft rank, I did not do so bad. I picked 8th while Ahiya Itchie picked 2nd. On the other matchup, TJ picked first and Chris picked 7th and was on autopick. All in all I think the master of all is Chris. He is now on the finals vs Ahiya Itchie while he picked 7th of all and was on auto pick! Galeng.

I hope to do better next season. 1st after reg season then booted on the semi final round. FAIL. Hehe.

Samsung Galaxy Tab

Damn!

Im so happy Im now a proud owner of a Samsung Galaxy Tab. Ive been craving for this device for such a long time now. And because the price of this device suddenly dropped, it became gettable. Hehehe. Im writing this blog thru the tab. All expectations met. Im really loving the size of the screen. Looking at my tweeter timeline with the huge screen has become very pleasant. Astig talaga. One downside though is I expect a better battery life than what I am getting. Ive been using the tab the whole day and the batt is now 35%. Not bad really but I expect more juice honestly. I think I have to tweak some of my settings get a more decent battery life.

I just want to vent. One, no offense to the church but I think Oscar Cruz should shut up and stop messing with State affairs. He is muddling in something he has no credibility. And he is dragging the whole church with him. 2nd, hand, foot and mouth disease is the in sickness just because Kris sons have it. Pati ba naman sakit pinapauso/pinapasikat na ng artista? We have far deadlier sickness like dengue that media should focus on. 3rd, could we STOP talking about those dancing FAs! There are far more serious news worthy of our peoples attention like the globe asiatique mess, and the lasalle bar bombing. These FAs can eat fire and walk on coal and I wouldn't fracking care. If you like it then watch them, if you don't then close your fracking eyes!

NBA Fantasy 2010-- Lets the game begin!

Hello everyone! Another NBA season is about to begin so that only means one thing. NBA fantasy season is about to begin as well!

Last season I managed 2 teams and finished 3rd and 4rth both were 10 team leagues. Not bad, but I was gunning to reach the final on one of the leagues but I got kicked in the butt by the eventual champ! Congrats Adu for that! LOL.

Anyways, Im planning to join 3 leagues this time. All of them H2H leagues. Im a commissioner on one league (my original cousins league), thanks for the vote of confidence cousins.

Im starting to read about preseasons predictions and some fantasy articles. Research is your best helper on any fantasy team you manage!

I do hope I get top draft right as the highest I got was only 4rth, so I hope I get into the top3 this time around! (I was unfortunate on my 2nd league as I got to pick last! Hassle! So that will be a challenge!)

Well as most of you who play fantasy I think your top 3 will also be 1)Durant 2) Lebron James 3) Chris Paul. These guys will give you the numbers you need no doubt it!

These all companies are all saying there is NO OIL CARTEL. That they are NOT FIXING the price of oil. That they are just following the FLUCTUATION of the prices on the international market. YET, you see a posts or headline such as this:

Petron Corp's H1 net profit jumps 64% on higher fuel sales

THAT IS FUKCING UNBELIEVABLE. 64% HIGHER THAN LAST YEAR. Then they say straight to our face that they CANT HOLD OFF any price increase because they are losing money. FCUK that! Having a net profit that high, while the FILIPINOS ARE SUFFERING is a CRIME!

Reports such as this just make me sad. CAPITALISM AT ITS FINEST!

Jolicloud out, Ubuntu for netbook in

My search for the perfect OS for my netbook continues. I really thought Jolicloud was it. I find it fast and getting apps to install was painless. I even got an upgrade to Jolicloud 1.0.But it kept crashing on me. I reinstalled it thrice. I dont know if its my netbook or the OS. Anyways, I cant keep on reinstalling an OS since sometimes I'd be out of town only with my netbook with me. So I decided to install Ubuntu. Boy, Im glad I did the switch. Though my netbook have stalled twice, I didnt have to reinstall the OS. I just needed to shutdown, unplug the laptop and its alive again. It is showing some errors when I restart it, so I think the stalling is because of my laptop. I think its the ssd. Installing of apps is also painless unlike the linux build that came with this laptop. You just have to go to Ubuntu software center, find what you like (for me its always dropbox) and click your done. One thing that surprised me with ubuntu was that tethering using my HTC hero was a breeze. Just turn on the Internet connection on the Hero, then plug it in via usb and click share internet connection and Ubuntu creates a wired connection. Painless!

A little side note on my tethering experience. I HAD to try it out because my huawei (Sun-locked) broadband wireless usb dongle cant be installed via Ubuntu. The laptop just cant detect the USB, so the software was not installing. Moving on, I bought a Globe Tattoo prepaid sim because it had a unlimited one day (24hours) internet surfing for P50 (roughly $1USD). First, you have to have atleast P55 pesos loaded on your prepaid account. Then you text SUPERSURF50 to 8888, wait for the reply confirmation and you are done. You can check your status by texting SUPERSURF STATUS to 8888 and check your balance by texting BAL to 222

So there. I think Ubuntu is here to stay. Its free and its very useful. Refreshing to have an alternative OS that is FREE.

PS. I sure wish that GLOBE also have one day internet surfing for their postpaid subscribers. Just saying.

Meego out, Jolicloud in!

I had a very short honeymoon with Meego because it cant play avi files, which was essential for me because I use my netbook for internet and movies. I planned to put Ubuntu on it, but it was not meant to be because I first stumbled upon Jolicloud. Installing jolicloud was fast enough because they have an extensive tutorial in their website. First thing I tried was playing .avi files. Check! Then I tried Firefox, check! So basically it passed! Boot up was slower than meego but it was way faster than xp. Another bonus for me was installing Dropbox was a breeze! Actually installing essential apps via its apps area is just a click away! I also tried to attach the Acer Aspire One on my external screen, and it was also supported! So from now on, I think my netbook will run with this OS!

Thank you meego. You gave my netbook life. You see my Acer Aspire before was running windows xp. Unfortunately, it was struggling with the OS. Long boot time, sluggish performance, in short, everything was in slow motion. But with Meego for netbook, now this netbook of mine is bearable to use. It boots in seconds and all essential things are in it. I havent tested it for video playback (I will going to test it as I type this) but everything else is smooth. It uses google chrome for browsing and Im fine with it. It has im capabilities, even has facebook chat!

Ill be testing this for the remainder of the week and will update this post again in a day or two. I hope that Nokia get this OS running on their phone. Based on what I am experiencing with my netbook, it is really promising.

Update: Look like it doesnt run avi files. Ill see what can I do.

My thoughts on King James going to Miami

-I like the move.
-It make sense coming from someone who wants to win a championship--with friends. (Blame it on team USA for giving LBJ the chance to play with Wade and Bosh, thus giving them a glimpse of what if we played for one team.)
-It was wrong to pronounce it on ESPN. Make a circus out it all BUT who was really to blame? LBJ is just 25 years old. And all of his high school life and pro career, everything was given to him. They even made a movie out of his jump to the NBA. The city of Cleveland milked him for 7 years. They earn atleast $150M with Lebron playing for them a season. Cleveland, the NBA, all taught him that he can do whatever he wants to do. So when he makes the mistake of doing the "the decision" everybody is surprised? Dan Gilbert created the marketing monster that is Lebron James. Sorry he bit you in the ass. You made him do it.
- They are haters out there. TONS of them. Saying that Lebron James is now that at the same level as Jordan, Kobe and the like. Really? Lets analyze the facts.
-LBJ is only different from Kobe and Jordan-- because he still doesnt have a ring.
- Kobe cried like a bitch before if you dont remember. That's why Shaq left LA. Remember that? There were rumors back then that he wanted out of LA, till he got the supporting casts he needed.
-Jordan also threatened management that if he will not be given the players he needed, he'll leave. Management gave him what he needed and he got 6 rings. (Cleveland didnt do squat to get legit backups for LBJ.)
- So lets give the man a break and lets first see if he can prove his detractors wrong-- that moving to Miami was right.
-He was a free agent after all and he did not do a Carlos Boozer.
-This is the real good time for him to team up with Wade and Bosh. He is just 25 years old and still can significantly contribute. If ever he wins 3-4 championships now, he really contributed to getting it. He will not be a Karl Malone who jumped to LA to win one but was really too old to do anything. Or a Gary Payton, Or a Charles Barkley(when he went to Houston), Or (Insert name here) any old veteran who made the switch too late.
-Miami is Wades team BUT that was last season. Now its their team.
- Anyone who loves basketball should be loving this because this will force other teams to step up their game. No more one man teams.

So thats it. I firmly believe that all this hoopla surrounding LBJ will disappear like a puff of smoke when LBJ, Wade and Bosh wins one next season. After all, its still just basketball, a sport, a sport that only cares about winning and championships.

If people forgot that Kobe was accused of raping someone and cheating on his wife because he is now a champion. What more King James who just switched teams to have fun with friends and win championships?

-Difference from 2008 Celtic championship team from this one is that the BIG3 is not that reliable anymore. Paul Piece 5-15, Ray Allen 3-14. Wow.
-Kobe had a bad game but Pau and Ron held the boat afloat till Kobe got his groove on the 4rth.
-Like I said, For one superstar to win a championship, he needs another legit superstar to back him up. Kobe has Pau. Both are not just ALL STAR calibur but SUPERSTARS and their respective positions. So if LBJ wants to win a championship he needs another superstar, not a former all star, or former superstar, or a legit backup.
-Congrats to all the Laker fans out there.

My Recurring Foot Problems

Finally, my foot is well. Last wed, I woke up with ankle sprain pain on my right foot. The big problem was I did not do anything physically to get sprained. So I consulted with my two friend doctors, Doc Zalveen and Doc Eric. They told me to get my blood tested and so I did. The diagnosis was mild bacterial infection. I did not know that a bacterial infection can do this. So anyways, I drank antibiotic 2x a day for 5 days, and I can walk without pain again. Thank you to my doctors!

I just want to write about this is because I want to remember when this happened to me. Im having these foot pains for quite some time now. Before my right foot got "sprained", I was also having problems with my left heel. I think I have mild, gout or something. If ever this happens again I think Ill visit a rheumatic doctor again. I visited one doctor last year I think and she said that I have a low tolerance for uric acid. This means that I have normal uric acid level but I easily feel pain associated with high uric acid, hence gout.

I drink beer but not as often as before. So thats the only thing I think that can contribute to my high uric acid if ever.

So anyways, now it is noted. I got my gout attack 3rd week of May, and had this mild bacterial infection during the 1st week of june.

Hope this dont happen again.

Lost -Good Finale BUT not enough SPOILER ALERT

Yes. I had a Lost marathon, from Season 3 to 6 in just 4 days. Since I was down because of a bacterial infection, I had no choice but to enjoy this mind boggling series once again. The series finale was good but it should have been better. Why? Because it left so many questions left unanswered.

First question that popped into my head was, after building the conflict between Ben and Charles for 4 long seasons, how was the conflict between them got resolved? Yes Ben got his revenge in the end but why did Charles dogged him for that long in the first place? Im just a lay man so what I got was Charles wanted to go to the island because he wants to stop the Man in black from leaving the island. But was Ben helping the Man in black escape? No. So why the conflict? As far as I got they dont have no conflict at all. Ben was trying to stop the people from leaving the island thus he was really preventing the Man in black to escape, so in essence Ben and Charles are in the same team. Yes, Ben banished Charles from the island but that was not really emphasized. Charles got banished, so what? He wants to go to the island again yes, but why hire mercenaries to kill Ben for that? Somehow this conflict got lost in translation.

Second, what happened to the rule of the island that no babies can be born on it? Again this was lost in the series. It did not get answered, it was simply put aside and got forgotten.

Third, what happened to Miles, Richard, and the pilot? They escaped the island yes and then?

Fourth, in the flash sideways that now we know as time of the afterlife for the people on the plane. Where were the other characters? Some of them died on their stay on the island but they were on the church. But a bunch of them were not there, does that mean they skipped the reunion of souls because they dont care about the other people on the island?

Fifth, whats the numbers for? Yes we know that it was suppose to represent to candidates, but why did the Dharma people stenciling it on the door? Why was it bad luck for Hurley and not for the others? Wha?

Sixth, so all the time travel that happened on the island true? If it was true whats a valid explanation for it? Because the island is mysterious? Is that a valid explanation?

Seventh, the island disappeared, it was hard to locate, spin a wheel and the island changes location...why? Can we just let them say that it was a mysterious island and we swallow it hook, line and sinker? Explain please.

To make the long story short, it seems the island and the mysteriousness of it all got pushed aside for drama between the characters. Man i know that what keeps the people happy but the island is what kept me from watching the show. Sure, the island got its importance because it was like a cork that keeps the man in black or the smoke in check but why? It just make no sense.

Dont get me wrong, I like the ending. But so many questions were left unanswered. Or maybe I was just not paying attention.

Arent you pissed? They have the most lax schedule of all of us working class. They what have like sessions 3x -4x a week? For just how many months in a year? And how many hours a day?

YEEEET, they still dont show up for work. If we did this in our work or in school, we would have been fired or kicked out. YET we pay our congressmen their FULL pay and their get their FULL share of kickbacks!

Huawei S7 Android tablet

Looks like this one is promising as this will run Android 2.1 The only problem with Android tablets is that it doesnt have online Android Market place like Android phones. Arent we all pissed with what is happening in our joint Congress right now? I mean, we were done voting and tabulating and proclaiming votes for the senate and other local positions and YET we still dont have a President and A Vice President. Thats because we have a certain law that says only our Congress can tally the votes. But is it really that hard? Adding 220++ COCs? Even Grade 6 students can tally these votes.

What I only see are losing congressmen (tae ka Dinangaleng -spelled wrong purposely) enjoying the last minute of limelight. Why dont we just finish the tally first, hear real complaints, and proclaim the winners for the Pres and the VP. Then let us give these losing (sour losers) candidates a channel to waste their time. Like giving them channel 99 on our cable so they can shout and talk till they turn blue. Dont get me wrong, some of their complaints are legitimate. But repeating this for 100 times will not correct the mistakes of the past elections.

NAKAKAPIKON na kayo a! When it looks and smells like shit. Then it is shit.

Get your act together joint congress. The more you prolong this, the more the Filipino people loses hope about their future. All the world knows who won the election, why does it take you long to legitimize our election?

My Acer Aspire One Saga Continues

Hello world!

I just want to say that im done with Linux. You see I tried to use linux linpus the orig OS on my acer aspire one 8gig since the XP I installed before was grounding into a halt. It was good for basic use. I had office apps, skype, firefox, azureus, BUT that was it. What gave me the urge to install XP again was the sun broadband usb that I cant use with linux.

So yesterday night, I reinstalled Rons tiny xp which was configured for netbooks with small capacity. So here I am using XP again, and I have used my sun broadband usb! Though it was like dail up speed since there is no 3G here in the province.

I have started installing some basic programs into it. Like ofcoures firefox and some of its add ons, dropbox, etc.

Then I came up with an idea of just using portable version of some apps so that it wont eat up my very limited capacity on the AcerAspireOne. Here is what I have installed so far:
-skype
-clamwin (antivirus)
-miranda (multiple IM client)

Thats it for now. Im using these portable versions so that my netbook wont ground to a halt again.

Since I dont have time to post much... I will try to make my posts longer so I can write about anything and everything I think is relevant in my daily life right now.

Well, one good thing going for me and my family is that we are going to start a new school next school year (cross-fingers). I dont want to jinx it or anything like that so ill just tell it in detail when it is 100% sure, and is up and running already. If you have a child aged 2-4 you may want them to go to our school. The name is Caterpillar School and if you leave in San Juan City then the school will be familiar to you.

On the techie side of thins, im planning to buy a dual qwerty phone because my dual phone right now has a crack on its screen, making it hard for me to read my messages. Im eyeing a Myphone Q22 or a Cherry Mobile qwerty dual sim. Yes in know its now a known brand but i want the convinience of having just one phone for my globe and my sun. So if you are a seller of MyPhone and Cherry Mobile you may want to contact me and I may buy one from you.

Im getting tired of my Nokia n800 Internet Tablet so im selling it and posting to some of the local selling sites if time permits. Now that i have my aspire one back again (I lent it to my mom) I dont have much use for my n800 anymore. If you are familiar with the N800 NIT and you want to own one, you may want to contact me. (Feb 24, 2010 time of writing). I also bought a 9-cell battery on ebay that will let my AspireOne run at around 12hours (quoted) so im pretty thrilled. I will post here if it meets expectations.

I was also planning to buy a Creative Vado HD, I did bid on it on ebay but I lost the last minute (thank you God, or i may have regret the impulse buy). But as of looking at the gadgets that i have right now, specifically my Sanyo Xacti C1 (its not HD but I dont need HD cause I just plan to use it to post my sons videos on Youtube), I realized that I dont really need it. Maybe Ill just ask my cousin if she wants me to buy one for her as she is the one who tickled my curiosity when she said she need a portable video camera (she did mention another brand but i think the creative vado HDis far superior).

My dream phone is still the n900 but i dont have the budget to splurdge riht now so the n900 will still remain a dream for now. LOL.

On the political side of things, the election fever is getting hotter and hotter. Im still team NoyNoy Aquino because I think he is the most competent of all the people running. The number one quality Im looking for is the one who I think love the county. That is what is lacking from all the presidentiable out there. If one loves his/her country.. "kung magnanakaw man siya" (which is almost certain) he/she will not be so selfish like GMA.

Talking about GMA, I cant believe that our supreme court upheld that she can run for congress. That is BS right from the very start. Well I dont mind her running after her presidency but not right after. Campaigning while she is the President of the land is disadvantagous and very dangerous. She can pour all the budget to the district she is running in, like what she is doing discreetly now. But it can intesify into a full blown BS when the campaigning fever starts for congress.

I still believe that this upcoming election can be successful and historical for everyone of us. BUT we must be vigilant. This talk about prolonged blackouts in Mindanao smell like and feels like shit. We all know how GMA cheated his way into her 2nd presidency via the Ampatuans in Mindanao, so please please lets us all be watchfull on what will happen in Mindanao this coming elections. The news about Comelec printing 2 million ballots with NO security seals should ring alarm bells for all of us.

I cannot end this very long posts withour mentioning my son. LOL. He is very smart and as of yesterday, my wife told me that he has learned 2 new tricks!

(Written on my pc) Anyways, Im back. Let me just shoutout some of my objections on whats happening in our country today. The declaration of martial law on Maguindanao is plain overkill. I think they declared that because they want to look for all the ballots that the Ampatuans edited and hid so that GMA can win the 2004 elections. As you know, if there are no suspension of habeas corpus, and a judge signs a search warrant, the police or the military can only seize items written on the warrant, so they cannot get the cheated ballots only the guns and bullets. And if there is no declaration of martial law, then they cant go all out and do whatever they want without the Ampatuans showing the media and the Filipinos what they know about the 2004 election fraud. And dont tell me there was no cheating in Maguindanao during the last election, you can shoot me where i stand. Who would believe an election wherein the opponent did not receive even one single vote. You tell me even the poll watchers of FPJ and company did not vote for them? In any town, and city in Maguindanao? You gotta be a innocent duck to believe such bullshit.

I havent updated my blog for quite a while now. Well I have been busy with life and have no time to write. Twitter basically became my chose of blog of late but it is not as satisfying as writing long posts such as this. I will try to make an entry at a minimun of one blog per week. Just to keep this site alive. I have been maintaining this blog for two years now and i dont want to stop now.

First, I want to rant about whats happening to our political scene here in the Philippines. Can you believe that GMA is running for a congress seat right after she stepped down as the President? For me this is the lowest point of our political history. She cant get enough of the power. I really regret that i voted for her in 2004.

The maguindanao massacre also reflects to what our political climate here in our country. GMA needed the Ampatuans so that they can control and win the 2004 elections. Now they cant stop the Ampatuans because GMA owe them a lot. Its like caring for a snake that bites your ass!

Anyway for the lighter side of the news... lets now talk about my NBA Fantasy basketball. I have two leagues that im maintaining. One is with my cousins and one with friends. On my cousins, LIMFAM league im proudly sitting on the #1 spot. This is my preferred league because we can change our lineups daily. More interaction is what i like. On my second league im sitting on 5th place. Im happy with my standing right now on both leagues and I hope i can stay on top of both leagues.

I recently purchased a second hand NIT (Nokia Internet Tablet). It was well taken care of and was still in fairly good condition. Since my purchase... I cant put it down! It was fairly useful to me. I can check the net on the go... I dont have to have my big laptop to lug around. It has a fairly good media player... so i can listen to music with it too. I popped in my 16gig SDHC and it is working perfectly with it... I still have 10 gig of free space left!

The best of all... the software for it is... wait for it... FREE. Yes absolutely free. As of now there are 400+ programs for it. Im checking them one by one. But as of now these are some useful apps i use:

FBreader- for my ebooks... (current book Clear and Present Danger)
Midori - best browser that works with facebook and mafiawars. LOL
Radio Streaming - now i can listen to my favorite radio programs.. like dos por dos (dzmm) anytime.

Battery life is so far satisfactory. No complains because im always near an outlet anyway.

Thing I want to do is pair it with my phone so i can use it as modem. Tried once but failed. I will try again any day now.

I have successfully upgraded my i780 to the latest 6.1 rom. But the problem of my disappearing mouse is still here. I dont get it! I have read that some people who have successfully upgraded their phone have no problem like I have. Hmmm. Anyways, i dont miss it that much. Sanay na e.

Ok im not updating to 6.5 only to another 6.1 official release. But this will update my phone from i780PDXHL2 to i780PDXIB1.

For this i will follow my instructions again. Here is the official i780PDXIB1 installer.

Modem drivers:
For XP
For Vista

1) download modem drivers then install.
2) download installer
3a) backup your data (phone if you want)
*optional 3b)hard reset phone prior the the upgrade. your previous tweaks may not work for 6.1 and can cause conflicts.
4) connect i780 to the pc via active sync
5) click installer
6) follow instructions.
7) after all the instructions your phone will reset then you will see it updating if after reset the phone does not upgrade trying switching to another usb and repeat step 5)
8) after installation of 6.1 unplug the connection turn the phone on.
9) tada your on 6.1

Lets see if this solves my mouse problems.

3RL on my xbox 360 -WTF!!!!!!!!!

Last week my beloved xbox 360 got the dreaded 3RL of death. Its already a falcon unit and still it got 3RLd. F*ck! My xbox 360 is only a year old. Damn microsoft! Well got mine modified maybe thats a cause. But while i was getting my 360 fixed, I met someone there who did not got his 360 modified but still it got 3RLd. So I think its in the unit itself. I got a ps2 and used it for 4 years and when i sold it, it was still working great. The news around greenhills is that the new jasper units are 3RL free already. Is this true? They said this also about falcon units but mine still got fried. Well, I got it fixed for 2k and they tell me that it will only last for about 4 months. Shit. "May taning na ang buhay ng 360 ko".

The question now is what gaming console to buy next? Shift to PS3 or pray that the xbox 360 jasper units wisthand the 3RL bug? Lets wait and see.

Recovering from Dengue

I have updated my i780 from 6.0 to 6.1. Im just having a problem with its mouse. It doesnt work anymore. Dpad is also malfunctioning. The button can only click now. Hassle. But I dont know a work around so i have to live with it. Im finding a custom firmware on the net but I dont know how to install it but once a get the upgrade bug again then I try to find out if this custom firmware can address the malfunctioning mouse of my i780.

Anyway, thats the only thing that is wrong with it and overall im satisfied with the upgrade. I like the built in Opera browser and the Samsung Today screen.

My New Toy... Acer Aspire One

Finally I have taken the plunge. Ive purchase a netbook or a umpc. I installed Rons minixp on it and Im satisfied with its speed. Im pondering of purchasing a 9 cell 7200mAh battery that will extend my usage to a whopping 8 hours. Im also purchasing a 16gb SDHC to extend my storage capacity. Im planning on delaying on putting more programs until I purchase a SDHC so that I wont pollute its miniscule bulit it capacity of 8gig.

Just got guilty from running my laptop 24 hours a day and I tried calculating how much it costs running it this way. So I found this Meralco Appliance Calculator and plugged in my details and..tada! It costs Php420 a month (theoretically if I dont switch off my lappy off for a month!) to run this thing. Well from averaging my use i think its close to 300-35o Php a month. If i include my Smartbro bill Php 999 then Im throwing Php1,350 a month. If i download 3 movies a week and 4-5 episodes then it costs (1350/44) 30bucks per movie or episode. Haha. Soryy I just have too much time tonight. Waiting for my downloads to finish.

According to cnet asia samsung i780 wm 6.1 update is already available. Unfortunately we need to send our units to a samsung service center to get an update. Damn. Can they just make the update available online? And if its to complicated then i hope they make the upgrade free of charge when we send our unit to them. Nba fantasy update #3

I'm now on 2nd place wahooo! The first round of our schedule is now ending and its great to have at least a positive standing.

Anyway, I still havent had the chance to use my lineup at full strength because of injuries. Up to now I still have another player injured, Carlos "lampa Mo!" Boozer. An injury that was first diagnoze for 10 days now is over a month already. Dammit. Boozer is a big help on the rebound and scoring department and now im having a hard time winning these stat lines. Had to vastly tweak my lineup for my team to remain competitive. Got Rodney Stuckey of the waivers and he is helping me on my assists. Also got Jameer Nelson off waivers and he is really a big surprise. Ill never drop him again ever. Magic is winning because of him right now.

Zach Randolph is helping me bigtime with his fantasy line. With Kaman now gone from my lineup and with Boozer out of service its a good thing the Zach is having a career year. Anyways I'd also like to thank my old reliables namely, Tim Duncan, Antawn Jamison, Dirk Nowitski, and Rey Allen.

I hope this guys get their normal contributions: Allen Iverson (still playing subpar or he is just really getting older?), Michael Redd (please no more injuries and please watch your FGs %), and Andrei Kirilenko (Hey where is your usual 10, 5,5, 1,1? Do it now your killing me!)

The big surprises on my line up are: Kevin Durant (thank you for the extra stats other than points), Mike Bibby (its like your 2002-2005 season again!), and TJ Ford (my steal of the draft).

Goodbye to these guys. Marquis Daniels (love your game but I need a C on my lineup), Taddeus Young ( I need more than a scorer), and Samuel Dalembert (need consistency from you brotha, where is your rebounds!?)

Welcome to Kendrick Perkins my new addition. He's still on probation. Havent used him in a game so far.

Because my Angkong died, all of us in the family are in mourning therefore we cant attend birthdays and wedding celebrations. Malas daw according to chinese beliefs. Last Nov 20, 2008 my angkong grandad died at the ripe age of 90. Though all of us knew about it, it still came unexpectedly. Death is reallly something you can't really accept. Sorry for being incoherent but that's what I feel inside. Happy because my angkong is now in heaven with God but sad because we shall never see him again. He is the HEAD of the LIM Family, with him gone its like we are all at a lost. Sayang at hindi pa niya naabutan ang kanyang pinakabagong apo. Hay... We love you Angkong. You will always be in our hearts. Hope that I can make you proud someday.

Finally our Cousin League have began last week. I'll put my lineup here next time. To cut it short for now, I lost my first Head2Head match by one point. My record now is 4-5. Actually all the Head2Head matches on our leauge finished with identical records for the winners(5-4)and the losers (4-5). Pretty competitive league to me. I hope I win this coming week. Chinese General Hospitl--- Hospital FROM HELL

Please if you are going to be confined in a Hospital, dont ever make it Chinese General Hospital.

My Angkong (Grand dad father side) was confined there for almost two weeks. What we experienced from going there and visiting our Angkong was pure HELL. The nursing staff were all rude and not helpfull. Please dont enter this noble profession kung pera lang habol mo! They treated our Angkong like he was not a person in need of caring but a person that they need to "fix" so that they can get their next paycheck. Because of their lack of human respect for my Angkong the family decided to get a private nurse. But once we did this they stopped doing their job and instead made our private nurse do their JOB. What the F*kc!? She is our nurse not YOURS!
Billing out was the worst thing. Its like they dont want you to leave. Checkout was 12pm, my Aunt go to the cashier around 12:15pm because our attending doctor, who had to sign my Angkong's release got in the hospital from hell late. They billed us for another day! 15mins late and they bill you for another days stay? Thats 4 thousand pesos down their filthy pockets! And not only that. They made us wait for our bill for 3 hours. POTA we are paying, we are not a charity case and you make us wait for 3 freaking hours? IF they treat their paying customers this way imagine how they treat the less fortunate.
Then there was the blood test incindent. My Ankong needed blood. So ofcourse the best thing to do was that one of us to donate. We sent them 6 of us and ALL of them got rejected. But all of them have previously donated blood before. As one of my cousin reasoned out to the staff... " BAt ako rejected e nakapagdonate naman na ako dati sa Cardinal Santos?" The staff said without batting an eyelash " E di dun ka magdonate." Is this a correct answer of a service oriented employee? Dont management atleast try to teach their staff some good manners and people skills? Bottomline, they dont want our blood, they want our money.
So if ever you need to go to a hospital DONT LET IT BE CHINESE GENERAL HOSPITAL. My family have stayed longer in a Hospital before namely Cardinal Santos Hospital and we never ever got treated this way.
So to the management and staff and the security guards and nurses there in CHINESE GENERAL HOSPITAL, I only have one advice for you all: IF you ever get sick and need medical attention, give yourself some respect and DONT confine yourself there. You might want to punch and kick yourself.

Xbox 360 games galore

Wahooo there are so many good games that came out this month of October. I hope every month is like this! Hehehe. Obviously its because of the upcoming holiday season. Here are some games that I playing right now and some games that Im going to buy when I get back to Manila.

NBA 2K9 ----
I like it A LOT! A LOT! I am an avid NBA fan and having this game is a must for me. Commentators, player movements, dunks, sounds are all superior. There is only one thing I dont like. AI is sooo damn good. Once you leave a player open even if its only a bench player they will swish it. Opponents will always have a big run and they will sink every shot. And im only playing the third to the highest level of difficulty. I have mastered NBA 08 AI and this one AI is much much better. I play it more and Ill see if I can adjust. If not then I'll just lessen the difficulty level. Hehe.

Dead Space----
Horror shit. This game scares the hell out of me. Very nice graphics and superb sound, making the game scarier. The monsters in the game are very twisted and sickening. You kill them by dismembering its hands or feet. Dont play with the lights out. Gore galore! Difficulty is up there. A must buy for horror genre fans out there.

Pure------
Quad bike racing arcade style. I like. No simulation here. Its pure adrenalin, jump, air, and severe wipeouts. You get to upgrade your quadbike and honestly I dont see the point. I dont feel the upgrade but the physical appeal of the upgrades is what makes it worthwhile. Graphics and sounds are great!

Brothere in Arms- Hells Highway----
WWII galore. You have teammates to help you. AI is at its best. If you dont take cover, you will die for sure. Story is very engaging. You will love the characters. If you are a fan of first person shooting game then you have to add this to your collection.

Saints Row 2----
Havent played it yet but the video review in IGN makes this promising.

Star Wars The Force Unleashed-----
The force is strong in this one... I have only played the first stage of the game and it looks superb. You get to swing you light saber and use the force on all the storm troppers out there. Hahaha.

Fallout 3-----
Will buy i once in manila

Far Cry 2-----
Another First person shooter that deserves my (and my borthers) attention. Will also buy when I get back.

All that for just a month is too much for some... but not for me! hahaha.

Sony Ericsson XPERIA X1 incoming this November

At last after a long wait this phone will be available in November. If you want a qwerty phone I think you should consider this. The only drawback i think is that its battery life only last for 2 days. With heavy usage I think that will go down further. The upside is its wonderful display, its 512rom and 256 ram. Thats wow for a phone.

WOW NBA is here. TOday we got 3 games... one is being shown on Bastketball TV. Yes its back and I predict that the teams to beat are: Boston and Orlando for the East and Los Angeles, Houston, and maybe Phoenix for the West. I hope Houston gets a little farther in the playoffs than the first round for the sake of McGrady and Yao Ming or else a big shuffle will happen in the future. The addition of Ron Artest wil surely help them. Lets just pray that the Big Three of Houston will stay healthy this whole season.

i780 crash and restoring data all over again

My i780 crashed on me yesterday. The finger mouse disappeared and the touchscreen became unresponsive. I backed it up via sprite backup software and did a hard reset. My first hard reset for my i780. After my hard reset i restored my backup data and lo and behold... the problem was still there. And to make matters worst is that all the .exe file stopped working. I was very disappointed with sprite backup because it did not do what it should have done. Yes it backed up the installed softwares but all the shortcuts became disassociated with its exes. Damn! So I did what i dreaded the most-- installing all my apps all over again. First, I backed up again my phone but now I only backed up my contact and messages. Did a softreset and then reloaded my contacts and messages. Atleast sprite restored that. I lost all my games and some of my not-so-important apps because im lazy to install all of them. I might do that some other time.

I thought I had to install all my apps all over again when the new 6.1 update is released. Boy was i wrong. Moral of the story is dont thinker with your gadgets too much. Hehe. But i cant help it.

update: it was NOT Sprite caused my exe problems but a app called Clear Temp. It supposed to erase all my temporary internet files but it also erased all the registry associated with all the apps I installed.

PSP-3000 screen problem...OUCH!

Ahh, the PSP-3000. The we’ve been lusting over is now out in wild and just waiting to show you games and movies with stunning and vivid clarity. Right? Umm, not so much it would seem. Early adopters are reporting horrible interlacing issues during both game play and video playback. As seen pretty clearly in the image above, movement is basically death to the PSP-3000 display. Jagged edges, scan lines and insane pixelation spoil the honeymoon pretty quickly and are resulting in some pretty pissed gamers. Apparently disabling the Wide Color Space option helps to some extent but it doesn’t eliminate the issue completely. The worst part? Sony has reportedly confirmed the issue, claimed it is in fact not an issue at all and stated that it will not be addressed in any software updates as it is a hardware matter. Mmm. PSP-4000 anyone?
